The brief was to design a landmark place of worship on a greenfield site in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur.

The design was based on a portal frame, 60 meters high and clad in bespoke light weight panels. The domed structure was designed to rotate following the 24 hour cycle of the clock and thus facing the sun during the day, allowing shadows of the verses from the Koran to be cast on the interior walls throughout the day without distortion.

A walkway over the shallow, granite lined pool was designed to submerge, restricting access to the main building during prayer time and accessed through a gilded portal constructed entirely from Surahs of the holy book. A single minaret rising to the height of 100 meters would serve as a beacon to call worshipers to prayer.
