Aviation Academy - Malaysia

The brief was to create an academy, not requiring runways, for the purpose of training new pilots. The site proposed was in a rural setting covered with rubber plants with deep roots.

In order to preserve the plants with minimal disturbance to the roots of the trees we designed a structure resting on deep pile foundations and elevated above the forest canopy. The multiple structures draw inspiration from the works of early aviation innovators such as Da Vinci and Karl Jarho.

The central platform and the design of the surrounding pavilions take into account the future expansion by allowing further structures to be added in harmony with the existing.

Architecture is not just about structures, it's about creating experiences.
