The brief call for a hotel, offices, a conference centre, a shopping mall, restaurants, underground car parking and a mosque on a rural site in Kuala Lumpur. For this project we aimed for a low impact, ecologically correct built environment while providing maximum density and use of the site.

Our proposal consisted of two suspended towers built over a landscaped park housing a shopping centre below the ground under the park, thus providing open, public spaces. The towers are situated on the north of the site leaning towards the south thus minimizing the impact of the sun on the buildings and avoiding shadows cast on the park. In addition, the towers would be almost 'invisible' at close proximity, and with the shopping centre and car parking completely under ground at the north end of the site we were able to create a 'natural' open environment to be enjoyed by the public.

At the opposite side of the site the landscape gently rises to create a ‘hill’ allowing a low lying building with two floors above and four below the ground level. This is the entrance to the Shopping Centre. Natural lighting and ventilation is provided by means of several atriums of different sizes, each with a different character, including one with an infinity pool cascading into a waterfall gathering in an artificial lake in a landscape within the atrium.
